The output of a UV system is essentially determined by the optical components in the system, the UV lamp and the reflectors. IST METZ has always been aware of the key role of these components, and therefore focusses on consequent in-house development and production. Only by doing so can we meet the high demands of our customers.
Regularly carried out maintenance and cleaning work reduces failures due to wear and tear to a minimum.

IST UV lamps can be replaced quickly and easily with the Fast Lamp Change system. The FLC contact is a part that is subjected to extrem stress by ambient and operating conditions. When replacing the UV lamps, the surface of the contact points on the unit side must be checked for any visible signs of oxidation or wear and replaced if necessary. When intalling an IST UV lamp, make sure the UV lamp noticeably clicks into place and is thus securely positioned in the FLC contact.
Depending on ambient conditions, a deposit of fine dust is formed on internal parts, in particular on lamp and reflector. Due to the high surface temperature of these parts, the dust burns in and reduces the radiation efficiency in the course of time.
The requiered cleaning intervals have to be determined by the UV unit operator ub accordance with ambient conditions such as dust content and cooling air composition.
When changing the reflector surface may not be touched with naked hands as marks of sweat, fat or contamination will burn-in and reduce the emission. For this reason, the lamps and reflectors ust be cleanded with pure alcohol after successful replacement. Wear for all services the protective gloves of the cleaning set.
The dust filter mats must be checked monthly for dirtiness and replaced if necessary. The active carbon filters (if present) serve the purpose of cupturing odours and to break down Ozone. If filter efficiency decreases (odours start develeoping), they should be exchanged. Soiled dust and active carbon filters can be disposed off via normal domestic waste.
Dust filters are contained in the air grilles of the cooling fans. The covers need to be opened and the filters must be removed for cleaning.
The reliability of a UV unit depends considerably on the quality of the installed UV lamps. To guarantee a high quality standard, IST METZ founded eta plus electronic gmbh in 1988 which is responsible for the in-house manufacturing of all IST UV lamps.
Developed for diverse applications with adapted emission spectra, the UV lamps are manufactured for the industrial application of UV units for the efficient curing of UV inks, varnishes and adhesives on substrates including wood, paper, plastic, metal and glass. The product range comprises UV lamps with lengths of 100 to 2300 mm and with outputs of 40 W/cm to 270 W/cm depending upon length.
